La galerie Downtown, créée par François Laffanour en 1982, référence des événements internationaux du marché De l’art (Biennale Des antiquaires, Fiac, Designmiami Basel, Designmiami, PAD Paris-Londres-NYC, Design Days Dubaï).
La galerie présente notamment la Bibliothèque « nuage » de Charlotte Perriand et des ateliers Jean Prouvé, les grandes appliques de Serge Mouille, La table « trapèze » et le bureau « présidence » de Jean Prouvé, Le Fauteuil « Kangourou » De Pierre Jeanneret, Le canapé « Boule » De Jean Royère, un fauteuil « Bodyguard » De Ron Arad ainsi qu’un « signal » De Vassilakis Takis.
Cette perspective démontre que La modernité dépasse la fonctionnalité : La bibliothèque « nuage » de Charlotte Perriand et les ateliers Jean Prouvé autant que Le « Bodyguard » De Ron Arad sont des sculptures à part entière.
François Laffanour est reconnu depuis plus De trente ans comme l’un des tout premiers défenseurs visionnaires de Charlotte Perriand, Jean Prouvé et Le Corbusier.
Parallèlement, iL a collaboré à ses expositions publiques au centre Pompidou en 2008 ainsi qu’au MOMA en 2009.

The Galerie Downtown is showing many seminal objects: the “cloud” bookshelves produced by Charlotte Perriand and the ateliers Jean Prouvé, the « grandes appliques » by Serge Mouille the “trapèze” table and the “présidence” desk by Jean Prouvé, the“kangaroo” armchair by Pierre Jeanneret, the “boule” sofa by Jean Royère, a “bodyguard” armchair by Ron Arad, and a “signal” by Vassilakis Takis.
This overview shows that modernity goes beyond functionality: the “cloud” bookshelves by Charlotte Perriand and the ateliers Jean Prouvé along with Ron Arad’s “bodyguard” are fully-fledged sculptures.
For more than thirty years, François Laffanour has been recognized as one of the very earliest visionary champions of Charlotte Perriand, Jean Prouvé and Le Corbusier.
At a very early stage, his intuition steered him towards Ron Arad, to whom his gallery has already dedicated two solo shows, in 2005 and then in 2008. in tandem, he collaborated on his public exhibitions at the centre pompidou in 2008, as well as at the MOMA in 2009.
